Registering for your JS Internship
Once you have successfully been accepted to intern for an agency, you need to enroll in JS 181. The next steps will help you enroll so that you can begin working at your agency and docking internship hours.
After locating your internship, you need to meet with the person that will be your internship supervisor or the person who you will report to at your agency. You need to bring the Student Internship Agreement and the Pre-registration Form with you so both you and the supervisor can sign the documents. Once you have both documents signed, you will submit them to the Justice Studies Main Office. You may also submit them electronically. Please leave course instructor signature blank as it will be signed later.
In addition, download the Course Syllabus and the Internship Meeting Sheet. The syllabus discloses all details concerning the internship course and the meeting sheet documents that you attended your 3 required meetings with a JS internship instructor.
Spring 2013: Once you have the above documents signed and downloaded, you will submit them to the department. All paperwork must be received in order for an add code to be distributed. Once we verify that the documentation has been completed, we will give you a permission code for your assigned course section (there are usually up to 19 sections each semester). If you do not receive your add code by the first day of the semester, please contact the department. You can use your permission code beginning on the first day of instruction. If you try to use it before this day, you will be given an error message and may have to request another permission code from your adviser.
Login to MySJSU and add the course. If you proceed all the way to step 3 and see a green check mark, you have successfully added the course. Congratulations!
Now you can proceed to the Current Interns page for information while you are enrolled in the Internship.
